<p>There are many different tools you can use to specify Advanced Function Presentation&trade; (AFP&trade;) fonts in your document. Each tool has different capabilities. Use
the tool that best fits your needs. These tools are discussed in greater detail
in other topics and related publications. </p>
<dl>
<dt class="bold">DDS</dt>
<dd>You can use keywords in your Data description specifications (DDS) application
to specify fonts, including how they look and how they are placed. The example
in the Example: Specify a font topic uses DDS.
</dd>
<dt class="bold">IBM&reg; Infoprint&reg; Designer for iSeries&trade;</dt>
<dd>This graphical tool lets you use menus to specify fonts and font properties,
such as size and weight. You can also specify placement properties, such as
alignment and orientation.
</dd>
<dt class="bold">AFP printer driver</dt>
<dd>This device driver can be used to produce AFP documents, overlays, and page segments
from any Windows&reg; 2000/XP application that supports printing
to AFP printers.
</dd>
<dt class="bold">IBM Advanced Function Printing&trade; Utilities for iSeries</dt>
<dd>You can specify fonts in the components of AFP Utilities.
</dd>
<dt class="bold">Third-party applications</dt>
<dd>Several third-party applications exist that you can use to work with
fonts in a document. Some such products are Papyris, Elixir, Opus, StreamServe,
and DOC1.
