Perform all upgrade tasks

This is the complete list of all the possible upgrade tasks. It is not customized for your upgrade. Use this topic if you are using a CD-ROM or PDF version of the information.

• Add or replace a hardware feature
  Changing one or more hardware features to satisfy capacity and compatibility requirements may be needed before upgrading to V5R4 and to the new server.
• Activate all standby processors
  Capacity on Demand offers you the capability to dynamically activate one or more central processors of select servers. If you are upgrading from a server that is enabled for Capacity on Demand and you have standby processors that have not been activated, you must activate all of these processors before upgrading your software or server.
• Upgrade to i5/OS Version 5 Release 4
  To complete the software upgrade, perform the following tasks.
• Convert expansion units for a partitioned server
  When performing any of the following expansion unit conversions in a partitioned environment, it is essential that detailed planning is performed before starting the expansion unit conversion.
• Upgrade the server
