Configure your wireless environment

Modify your web application server and firewall configuration so that iSeries™ Navigator for Wireless will run properly.

Before you begin using iSeries Navigator for Wireless, make sure that you have properly configured or set up the following items. After you have completed these steps, you are ready to connect to your central system and begin using iSeries Navigator for Wireless:

• Choose a Web application server
  Set up iSeries Navigator for Wireless to run using an ASF Jakarta Tomcat servlet engine, or a WebSphere^® Application Server (WAS). You can find set up instructions here for WAS 5.0 Base Edition and WAS 5.0 Express Edition.
• Configure your firewall
  Determine if you need to modify your firewall to gain access to systems from a wireless device.
• Configure Management Central
  Take full advantage of the capability that iSeries Navigator for Wireless provides when you interact with Management Central. This page helps you to fully use the functions available in Management Central.
• Select a language
  The default language is set to English, but you can configure your device to display your language of choice.
