b723eeb815 monitor: move monitor_data_(init|destroy) into QOM init/finalize
Start to take advantage of QOM, by using object init and finalize
methods to replace monitor_data_init and monitor_data_destroy.

A standalone helper is provided to enable the I/O thread for QMP
where appropriate for the chardev backend.

ae286229f4 monitor: remove 'skip_flush' field
The 'skip_flush' field is set on the dummy throwaway HMP monitor
object created by QMP's  'human-monitor-command', as an indication
not to try to write data to the chardev. Instead the QMP command
impl will grab the data straight out of the in-memory buffer.

The flag is redundant, however, as the monitor code could instead
simply check the 'fe_is_open' field on the CharFrontend, which
will be false in the same scenarios that 'skip_flush' is true.

7e3ce81383 monitor: pass chardev ID into monitor constructor instead of object
Current the monitor_new_hmp/monitor_new_qmp constructors accept
a Chardev object pointer. To facilitate the next commit which will
introduce a QOM property for the character device ID, switch to
accepting an chardev ID in the constructor.

f96eac8a4f monitor: minimal conversion of monitors to QOM
This introduces abstract QOM type "monitor", with concrete subtypes
"monitor-hmp" and "monitor-qmp". This is the bare minimum conversion
of just the type declarations and replacing g_new/g_free with
object_new/object_unref.

Command line option "-monitor" now creates a "monitor-hmp" object
"/objects/compat_monitorNNN" in addition to the character device
"/chardevs/compat_monitorNNN". NNN counts up from zero.

Exception: "-monitor chardev:ID" creates a "monitor-hmp" object
"/objects/ID", and does not create a character device.

"-qmp" and "-qmp-pretty" work the same, except they create a
"monitor-qmp" object.

"-mon" now creates either a "monitor-hmp" or "monitor-qmp" object
"/objects/ID" if the option argument provides an ID, else
"/objects/compat_monitorNNN".

"-gdbstub" and "-serial mon:..." now create a "monitor-hmp" object
"/objects/compat_monitorNNN".

Note that the object's name in "/objects/" matches the QemuOpts ID when
it exists.  The only cases where it doesn't exist are "-mon" without ID,
"-gdbstub" and "-serial mon:".

A future patch will make "monitor-hmp" and "monitor-qmp" work with
"-object" and "object-add".

Note: there is a slight change in the NNN values assigned. The old
code would increment the counter for every monitor added (except for
-mon, -serial mon:..., -gdbstub), regardless of whether it needed a
"compat_monitorNNN" ID assignment. Now it is only incremented when an
automatic ID assigned is needed (but even for -mon, -serial mon:...,
-gdbstub).

544ddbb637 block: Never drop BLOCK_IO_ERROR with action=stop for rate limiting
Commit 2155d2dd introduced rate limiting for BLOCK_IO_ERROR to emit an
event only once a second. This makes sense for cases in which the guest
keeps running and can submit more requests that would possibly also fail
because there is a problem with the backend.

However, if the error policy is configured so that the VM is stopped on
errors, this is both unnecessary because stopping the VM means that the
guest can't issue more requests and in fact harmful because stopping the
VM is an important state change that management tools need to keep track
of even if it happens more than once in a given second. If an event is
dropped, the management tool would see a VM randomly going to paused
state without an associated error, so it has a hard time deciding how to
handle the situation.

This patch disables rate limiting for action=stop by not relying on the
event type alone any more in monitor_qapi_event_queue_no_reenter(), but
checking action for BLOCK_IO_ERROR, too. If the error is reported to the
guest or ignored, the rate limiting stays in place.

a582a5784e monitor: move error_vprintf back to error-report.c
The current unit tests rely on monitor.o not being linked, such
that the monitor stubs get linked instead. Since error_vprintf
is in monitor.o this allows a stub error_vprintf impl to be used
that calls g_test_message.

This takes a different approach, with error_vprintf moving
back to error-report.c such that it is always linked into the
tests. The monitor_vprintf() stub is then changed to use
g_test_message if QTEST_SILENT_ERRORS is set, otherwise it will
return -1 and trigger error_vprintf to call vfprintf.

The end result is functionally equivalent for the purposes of
the unit tests.

cd670accb5 monitor: refactor error_vprintf()
The monitor_vprintf() code will return -1 if either the monitor
is NULL, or the monitor is QMP. The error_vprintf() code can
take advantage of this to avoid having to duplicate the same
checks, and instead simply look at the return value.

65c67540b7 monitor: initialize global data from a constructor
Some monitor functions, most notably, monitor_cur() rely on global
data being initialized by 'monitor_init_globals()'. The latter is
called relatively late in startup. If code triggers error_report()
before monitor_init_globals() is called, QEMU will abort when
accessing the uninitialized monitor mutex.

The critical monitor global data must be initialized from a
constructor function, to improve the guarantee that it is done
before any possible calls to monitor_cur(). Not only that, but
the constructor must be marked to run before the default
constructor in case any of them trigger error reporting.

Note in particular that the RCU constructor will spawn a background
thread so we might even have non-constructor QEMU code running
concurrently with other constructors.

As a general note, constructors should be extrememly careful
about what QEMU code they invoke, as it cannot be guaranteed that
the process is fully initialized and so not all normal QEMU API
rules apply.

407bc4bf90 qapi: Move include/qapi/qmp/ to include/qobject/
The general expectation is that header files should follow the same
file/path naming scheme as the corresponding source file. There are
various historical exceptions to this practice in QEMU, with one of
the most notable being the include/qapi/qmp/ directory. Most of the
headers there correspond to source files in qobject/.

This patch corrects most of that inconsistency by creating
include/qobject/ and moving the headers for qobject/ there.

This also fixes MAINTAINERS for include/qapi/qmp/dispatch.h:
scripts/get_maintainer.pl now reports "QAPI" instead of "No
maintainers found".

87d67fadb9 monitor: Stop removing non-duplicated fds
monitor_fdsets_cleanup() currently has three responsibilities:

1- Remove the fds that have been marked for removal(->removed=true) by
   qmp_remove_fd(). This is overly complicated, but ok.

2- Remove any file descriptors that have been passed into QEMU and
   never duplicated[1,2]. A file descriptor without duplicates
   indicates that no part of QEMU has made use of it. This is
   problematic because the current implementation does it only if the
   guest is not running and the monitor is closed.

3- Remove/free fdsets that have become empty due to the above
   removals. This is ok.

The scenario described in (2) is starting to show some cracks now that
we're trying to consume fds from the migration code:

- Doing cleanup every time the last monitor connection closes works to
  reap unused fds, but also has the side effect of forcing the
  management layer to pass the file descriptors again in case of a
  disconnect/re-connect, if that happened to be the only monitor
  connection.

  Another side effect is that removing an fd with qmp_remove_fd() is
  effectively delayed until the last monitor connection closes.

  The usage of mon_refcount is also problematic because it's racy.

- Checking runstate_is_running() skips the cleanup unless the VM is
  running and avoids premature cleanup of the fds, but also has the
  side effect of blocking the legitimate removal of an fd via
  qmp_remove_fd() if the VM happens to be in another state.

  This affects qmp_remove_fd() and qmp_query_fdsets() in particular
  because requesting a removal at a bad time (guest stopped) might
  cause an fd to never be removed, or to be removed at a much later
  point in time, causing the query command to continue showing the
  supposedly removed fd/fdset.

Note that file descriptors that *have* been duplicated are owned by
the code that uses them and will be removed after qemu_close() is
called. Therefore we've decided that the best course of action to
avoid the undesired side-effects is to stop managing non-duplicated
file descriptors.

0ff2553701 monitor: cleanup fetching of QMP requests
Use a continue statement so that "after going to sleep" is treated the same
way as "after processing a request".  Pull the monitor_lock critical
section out of monitor_qmp_requests_pop_any_with_lock() and protect
qmp_dispatcher_co_shutdown with the monitor_lock.

The two changes are complex to separate because monitor_qmp_dispatcher_co()
previously had a complicated logic to check for shutdown both before
and after going to sleep.

3e6bed619a monitor: cleanup detection of qmp_dispatcher_co shutting down
Instead of overloading qmp_dispatcher_co_busy, make the coroutine
pointer NULL.  This will make things break spectacularly if somebody
tries to start a request after monitor_cleanup().

AIO_WAIT_WHILE_UNLOCKED() does not need qatomic_mb_read(), because
the macro contains all the necessary memory barriers.

6ee7c82d0d monitor: do not use mb_read/mb_set for suspend_cnt
Clean up monitor_event to just use monitor_suspend/monitor_resume,
using mon->mux_out to protect against incorrect nesting (especially
on startup).

The only remaining case of reading suspend_cnt is in the can_read
callback, which is just advisory and can use qatomic_read.

As an extra benefit, mux_out is now simply protected by mon_lock.
Also, moving the prompt to the beginning of the main loop removes
it from the output in some error cases where QEMU does not actually
start successfully.  It is not a full fix and it would be nice to
also remove the monitor heading, but this is already a small (though
unintentional) improvement.

Allow flushing and printing to the monitor while mon->mon_lock is
held.  This will help cleaning up the locking of mon->mux_out and
mon->suspend_cnt.

monitor_cleanup() is called from the main loop thread. Calling
AIO_WAIT_WHILE(qemu_get_aio_context(), ...) from the main loop thread is
equivalent to AIO_WAIT_WHILE_UNLOCKED(NULL, ...) because neither unlocks
the AioContext and the latter's assertion that we're in the main loop
succeeds.

77ae2302ae monitor: Rate-limit MEMORY_DEVICE_SIZE_CHANGE qapi events per device
We want to rate-limit MEMORY_DEVICE_SIZE_CHANGE events per device,
otherwise we can lose some events for devices. We can now use the
qom-path to reliably map an event to a device and make rate-limiting
device-aware.

This was noticed by starting a VM with two virtio-mem devices that each
have a requested size > 0. The Linux guest will initialize both devices
in parallel, resulting in losing MEMORY_DEVICE_SIZE_CHANGE events for
one of the devices.

bf7b1eab25 chardev: mark explicitly first argument as poisoned
Since commit 9894dc0cdc "char: convert
from GIOChannel to QIOChannel", the first argument to the watch callback
can actually be a QIOChannel, which is not a GIOChannel (but a QEMU
Object).

Even though we never used that pointer, change the callback type to warn
the users. Possibly a better fix later, we may want to store the
callback and call it from intermediary functions.

c81219a7dd monitor: Fix assertion failure on shutdown
Commit 357bda95 already tried to fix the order in monitor_cleanup() by
moving shutdown of the dispatcher coroutine further to the start.
However, it didn't go far enough:

iothread_stop() makes sure that all pending work (bottom halves) in the
AioContext of the monitor iothread is completed. iothread_destroy()
depends on this and fails an assertion if there is still a pending BH.

While the dispatcher coroutine is running, it will try to resume the
monitor after taking a request out of the queue, which involves a BH.
The dispatcher is run until it terminates in the AIO_WAIT_WHILE() loop.
However, adding new BHs between iothread_stop() and iothread_destroy()
is forbidden.

Fix this by stopping the dispatcher first before shutting down the other
parts of the monitor. This means we can now receive requests that aren't
handled any more when QEMU is shutting down, but this is unlikely to be
a problem for QMP clients.

9ce44e2ce2 qmp: Move dispatcher to a coroutine
This moves the QMP dispatcher to a coroutine and runs all QMP command
handlers that declare 'coroutine': true in coroutine context so they
can avoid blocking the main loop while doing I/O or waiting for other
events.

For commands that are not declared safe to run in a coroutine, the
dispatcher drops out of coroutine context by calling the QMP command
handler from a bottom half.

e69ee454b5 monitor: Make current monitor a per-coroutine property
This way, a monitor command handler will still be able to access the
current monitor, but when it yields, all other code code will correctly
get NULL from monitor_cur().

This uses a hash table to map the coroutine pointer to the current
monitor of that coroutine.  Outside of coroutine context, we associate
the current monitor with the leader coroutine of the current thread.

Approaches to implement some form of coroutine local storage directly in
the coroutine core code have been considered and discarded because they
didn't end up being much more generic than the hash table and their
performance impact on coroutines not using coroutine local storage was
unclear. As the block layer uses a coroutine per I/O request, this is a
fast path and we have to be careful. It's safest to just stay out of
this path with code only used by the monitor.

d73415a315 qemu/atomic.h: rename atomic_ to qatomic_
clang's C11 atomic_fetch_*() functions only take a C11 atomic type
pointer argument. QEMU uses direct types (int, etc) and this causes a
compiler error when a QEMU code calls these functions in a source file
that also included <stdatomic.h> via a system header file:

  $ CC=clang CXX=clang++ ./configure ... && make
  ../util/async.c:79:17: error: address argument to atomic operation must be a pointer to _Atomic type ('unsigned int *' invalid)

Avoid using atomic_*() names in QEMU's atomic.h since that namespace is
used by <stdatomic.h>. Prefix QEMU's APIs with 'q' so that atomic.h
and <stdatomic.h> can co-exist. I checked /usr/include on my machine and
searched GitHub for existing "qatomic_" users but there seem to be none.

This patch was generated using:

722a3c783e virtio-pci: Send qapi events when the virtio-mem size changes
Let's register the notifier and trigger the qapi event with the right
device id.

MEMORY_DEVICE_SIZE_CHANGE is similar to BALLOON_CHANGE, however on a
memory device level.

Don't unregister the notifier (we neither have finalize() nor unrealize()
for VirtIOPCIProxy, so it's not that simple to do it) - both devices are
expected to vanish at the same time.
