"confidential-guest-support" is the recommended property to configure
machine with confidential computing technology instead of
"memory-encryption".
Add "confidential-guest-support" to machine options and call out
explicitly "memory-encryption" is the alias of it and not recommended.

Add #PRE and #NOFNR flags to LMHOSTS example line.
Include information about LMHOSTS path on Windows 3.x.
Windows NT 3.1 requires #NOFNR flag for successful hostname resolving as
described in MS article Q103765 because qemu/smbd does not respond to
netbios name verification queries. #PRE is suggested in that article too
and decrease delay on Windows 3.x for the first connection.

Introduce a configurable poll-weight parameter for adaptive polling
in IOThread. This parameter replaces the hardcoded POLL_WEIGHT_SHIFT
constant, allowing runtime control over how much the most recent
event interval affects the next polling duration calculation.
The poll-weight parameter uses a shift value where larger values
decrease the weight of the current interval, enabling more gradual
adjustments. When set to 0, a default value of 3 is used (meaning
the current interval contributes approximately 1/8 to the weighted
average).
This patch also removes the hardcoded default value checks from
adjust_polling_time(). Instead, poll-grow, poll-shrink, and
poll-weight now use default values initialized in iothread.c
during IOThread creation.

There are quite a few inappropriate uses of [...] around argument
values. The [] are intended to indicate optionality, but in some
cases it is used to wrap a set of enum values. In other cases it
is being used to show the value is entirely optional, which was
common behaviour for boolean values in the past. QEMU has deprecated
short-form boolean options for quite a while though, and we should
thus not advertize this possibility in the docs.

Nitro Enclaves are a confidential compute technology which
allows a parent instance to carve out resources from itself
and spawn a confidential sibling VM next to itself. Similar
to other confidential compute solutions, this sibling is
controlled by an underlying vmm, but still has a higher level
vmm (QEMU) to implement some of its I/O functionality and
lifecycle.
Add an accelerator to drive this interface. In combination with
follow-on patches to enhance the Nitro Enclaves machine model, this
will allow users to run a Nitro Enclave using QEMU.

The colo-compare option documentation has some formatting issues: it
uses a "@var{...}" syntax which is not used elsewhere and which is
rendered literally into the HTML documentation. The bare "@" sign
also results in an unintended 'mailto:' hyperlink.
Rewrite this into the style we seem to use most in the rest of
the command line options, where an option which takes an argument
is written as "my-option=<thing>".
We take the opportunity to make the documentation a little clearer
by splitting up the long paragraph and using preformatted-text
markup for the names of the suboptions.

A few entries in qemu-options.hx use the syntax "my-option=@var{name}"
(or @var{} with no name specified) when documenting an option that takes
an argument. This syntax isn't consistently used, and the documentation
generation has no support for it: it just appears literally in the
HTML output.
Switch these uses to the more common "my-option=<name>". This also
doesn't have any particular support in the documentation generation
and so appears literally in the output, but it is a little less odd
looking to the end-user.
The other common pattern we have is "my-option=name" with no marking
at all that the right hand side of the '=' is not literal text;
using <> seems preferable to me, as it makes it more distinct from
cases where the right hand side is documenting that only certain
values are permitted, as in "my-option=on|off". This patch doesn't
do anything about existing uses of this pattern (except in one case
which was so confused as to use "my-option=@var{}" in the --help
output and "my-option=" in the RST output, where we change both
for consistency), but prefers not to add more of them.
We don't change the uses of @var in the colo-compare documentation,
as that part deserves a slightly more wide-ranging overhaul that
is better in its own commit.

The following IPMI commands are added or modified to support getting
fake LAN channel configurations from the `ipmi_bmc_sim` device:
* Get Channel Access;
* Get Channel Info Command;
* Get LAN Configuration Parameters.
The fake LAN channel configurations can be specified from QEMU
commandline options for device `ipmi_bmc_sim`. Inside the guest OS, the
configurations can be retrieved from the device using some IPMI tools,
e.g., `ipmitool lan print`.
Note, there is not a real LAN channel. The fake LAN channel is suitable
for testing purposes.

Libguestfs wants to use qemu to run a captive appliance. When the
program linked to libguestfs exits, we want qemu to be cleaned up.
Libguestfs goes to great lengths to do this at the moment: it either
forks a separate process to ensure clean-up is done, or it asks
libvirt to clean up the qemu process. However this is complicated and
not totally reliable.
On Linux, FreeBSD and macOS, there are mechanisms to ensure a signal
or message is delivered to a process when its parent process goes
away. The qemu test suite even uses this mechanism on Linux (see
PR_SET_PDEATHSIG in tests/qtest/libqtest.c).
In nbdkit we have long had the concept of running nbdkit captively,
and we have the nbdkit --exit-with-parent flag to help
(https://libguestfs.org/nbdkit-captive.1.html#EXIT-WITH-PARENT)
This commit adds the same mechanism. The syntax is:
qemu -run-with exit-with-parent=on [...]
This is not a feature that most typical users of qemu (for running
general purpose, long-lived VMs) should use, so it defaults to off.
The exit-with-parent.[ch] files are copied from nbdkit, where they
have a 3-clause BSD license which is compatible with qemu:

This is useful to be able to freeze a specific version of SeaBIOS to
prevent guest visible changes between BIOS updates. This is currently
not possible since the extension byte 2 provided by SeaBIOS does not
set the VM bit, whereas QEMU sets it unconditionally.
Allowing to clear it also seems useful if we want to hide the fact that
the guest system is running inside a virtual machine.

Extend 'inhibit=on' setting with the option to specify a pinned XSK map
path along with a starting index (default 0) to push the created XSK
sockets into. Example usage:

This is useful for the case where an existing XDP program with XSK map
is present on the AF_XDP supported phys device and the XSK map is not
yet populated. For example, the former could have been pre-loaded onto
the netdevice by a control plane, which later launches QEMU to populate
it with XSK sockets.
Normally, the main idea behind 'inhibit=on' is that the QEMU instance
doesn't need to have a lot of privileges to use the pre-loaded program
and the pre-created sockets, but this mentioned use-case here is different
where QEMU still needs privileges to create the sockets.
The 'map-start-index' parameter is optional and defaults to 0. It allows
flexible placement of the XSK sockets, and is up to the user to specify
when the XDP program with XSK map was already preloaded. In the simplest
case the queue-to-map-slot mapping is just 1:1 based on ctx->rx_queue_index
but the user might as well have a different scheme (or smaller map size,
e.g. ctx->rx_queue_index % max_size) to push the inbound traffic to one
of the XSK sockets.
Note that the bpf_xdp_query_id() is now only tested for 'inhibit=off'
since only in the latter case the libxdp takes care of installing the
XDP program which was installed based on the s->xdp_flags pointing to
either driver or skb mode. For 'inhibit=on' we don't make any assumptions
and neither go down the path of probing all possible options in which
way the user installed the XDP program.

The ACPI SPCR (Serial Port Console Redirection) table allows firmware
to specify a preferred serial console device to the operating system.
On ARM64 systems, Linux by default respects this table: even if the
kernel command line does not include a hardware serial console (e.g.,
"console=ttyAMA0"), the kernel still register the serial device
referenced by SPCR as a printk console.
While this behavior is standard-compliant, it can lead to situations
where guest console behavior is influenced by platform firmware rather
than user-specified configuration. To make guest console behavior more
predictable and under user control, this patch introduces a machine
option to explicitly disable SPCR table exposure:
-machine spcr=off
By default, the option is enabled (spcr=on), preserving existing
behavior. When disabled, QEMU will omit the SPCR table from the guest's
ACPI namespace, ensuring that only consoles explicitly declared in the
kernel command line are registered.

This commit adds support for the vhost-user interface to the passt
network backend, enabling high-performance, accelerated networking for
guests using passt.
The passt backend can now operate in a vhost-user mode, where it
communicates with the guest's virtio-net device over a socket pair
using the vhost-user protocol. This offloads the datapath from the
main QEMU loop, significantly improving network performance.
When the vhost-user=on option is used with -netdev passt, the new
vhost initialization path is taken instead of the standard
stream-based connection.

This commit introduces support for passt as a new network backend.
passt is an unprivileged, user-mode networking solution that provides
connectivity for virtual machines by launching an external helper process.
The implementation reuses the generic stream data handling logic. It
launches the passt binary using GSubprocess, passing it a file
descriptor from a socketpair() for communication. QEMU connects to
the other end of the socket pair to establish the network data stream.
The PID of the passt daemon is tracked via a temporary file to
ensure it is terminated when QEMU exits.
