<div><p>This topic provides information about how to set up forward proxy
for your HTTP Server with the <span>IBM<sup>®</sup> Web Administration for i5/OS™ interface</span>.</p>
<div class="important"><span class="importanttitle">Important:</span> Information
for this topic supports the latest PTF levels for HTTP Server for i5/OS .
It is recommended that you install the latest PTFs to upgrade to the latest
level of the HTTP Server for i5/OS. Some of the topics documented here are
not available prior to this update. See <a href="http://www-03.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/software/http/services/service.html" target="_blank">http://www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/software/http/services/service.htm</a> <img src="www.gif" alt="Link outside Information Center" /> for more information. </div>
<p>Configure your HTTP Server (powered by Apache) for <a href="rzaieproxytypes.htm#forward">forward proxy</a> using the <span>IBM Web Administration for i5/OS interface</span>.
Only the steps necessary to configure a forward proxy are discussed.</p>
<p>To configure your HTTP Server (powered by Apache) for forward proxy, do
the following:</p>
<ol><li>Click the <strong>Manage</strong> tab.</li>
<li>Click the <span class="uicontrol">HTTP Servers</span> subtab.</li>
<li>Select your HTTP Server (powered by Apache) from the <strong>Server</strong> list.</li>
<li>Select <strong>Global configuration</strong> from the <strong>Server area</strong> list.<div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> To
configure a forward proxy for a virtual host, select the virtual host from
the <strong>Server area</strong> list. See <a href="rzaiejklvirtualhost.htm">JKL

more information.</div>
</li>
<li>Expand <strong>Server Properties</strong>.</li>
<li>Click <strong>Proxy</strong>.</li>
<li>Click the <strong>Forward Proxy</strong> tab in the form.</li>
<li>Select <strong>Enabled</strong> from the <strong>Forward proxy capabilities</strong> list.</li>
<li>Enter the domain default in the <strong>Default domain for unqualified requests</strong> field.
The default domain is used if a request does not contain a domain name. For
example, <tt>http:\\www</tt>, does not contain a domain name. <div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> The remaining
fields are not required to set up forward proxy for your HTTP Server (powered
by Apache). Edit the default values now or return to this form at a later
time.</div>
