<div><p>When you back up your system using BRMS, information about each
|
|
backed up item is recorded in the save history. The information in the save
|
|
history is used to create a <span class="uicontrol">recovery report</span>, which
|
|
steps you through a full system recovery. Should your system fail or a disaster
|
|
occur, you can use the recovery report to recover your system to the point
|
|
it was at before the failure.</p>
|
|
<div class="section"><p>Because your recovery report contains critical information about
|
|
your system, it is important that you take a few precautions to ensure that
|
|
this information is current and accessible when you need it. </p>
|
|
<ul><li>You cannot use your recovery report alone to recover your system. You
|
|
must also have the recovery information in Backup and Recovery to be successful.</li>
|
|
<li>Your recovery is only as good as your backup, so be sure to test your
|
|
backup and recovery strategy any time you change it by doing a full system
|
|
recovery. You may need to adjust your strategy to ensure that a full recovery
|
|
is possible.</li>
|
|
<li>You should test your recoveries at a disaster recovery hotsite, or by
|
|
using a test system. <span class="uicontrol">Do not</span> use your production system.</li>
|
|
<li>Print your recovery report every time you do a backup. By doing this,
|
|
you ensure that your report includes the most current information.</li>
|
|
<li>Print at least two copies of your recovery report every time you do a
|
|
backup. Keep one copy with your system and keep the other in a safe place
|
|
offsite, such as an offsite vaulting location.</li>
|
|
</ul>

<p>Follow these steps in iSeries™ Navigator to print your recovery
|
|
report:</p>
|
|

<ol><li><span>Expand a system with Backup, Recovery and Media Services installed
|
|
on it.</span></li>
|
|
<li><span>Right-click <span class="uicontrol">Backup, Recovery and Media Services</span> and
|
|
select <span class="uicontrol">Print Reports</span>.</span></li>
|
|
<li><span>Select <span class="uicontrol">Disaster Recovery</span> and click <span class="uicontrol">OK</span>.</span></li>
