Manual configuration for APPN and HPR

Network attributes describe the local system name, the default local location
name, the default control point name, the local network identifier, and the
network node type. They also determine whether the system uses HPR, or whether
you want to use virtual controllers for APPN. Assuming you have already properly
configured an advanced program-to-program communications (APPC) environment, changing network attributes would be your first
step in configuring APPN and HPR.

The following are some other steps you may need to perform during your
configuration process:

Define lines with line descriptions. Depending
on your hardware, the lines may be attached to a network server, or a network
interface.

Define controllers with controller descriptions. Controller descriptions are attached to lines.

Define devices or locations with device descriptions. Device descriptions are attached to controllers.

Create APPN location lists

Create mode descriptions

Create a class-of-service description
