Object (DLCOBJ)</span> commands</h1>
<div><p>The <span class="cmdname">ALCOBJ</span> command locks DDM files on the source
server and the associated remote files on the target servers. </p>
<div class="section"><p>When the target is an <span class="keyword">iSeries™ server</span> or
a <span class="keyword">System/38™</span>, resulting locks
on the remote files are the same as if the files were local files. When the
target is neither an <span class="keyword">iSeries server</span> nor
a <span class="keyword">System/38</span>, equivalent locks
are obtained, although the target server may promote the lock to a stronger
lock condition than was specified on the <span class="cmdname">ALCOBJ</span> command.</p>

<div class="section"> <div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> On servers that are neither <span class="keyword">iSeries</span> nor <span class="keyword">System/38</span> target servers, remote <em>files</em> are
locked with the specified lock condition, and on <span class="keyword">iSeries</span> and <span class="keyword">System/38</span> target servers only, remote <em>members</em> are
locked with a minimum specified lock condition. (<span class="keyword">iSeries</span> or <span class="keyword">System/38</span> remote <em>files</em> are locked
with shared-read locks.)</div>
