<h1 class="topictitle1">Connect to an EIM domain</h1>
<div><div class="section"><p>Before you can work with an Enterprise Identity Mapping (EIM)
domain, you must first connect to the EIM <a href="rzalveserverdmnctrlr.htm#rzalveserverdmnctrlr">domain
controller</a> for the domain. You may connect to an EIM domain even if
your iSeries™ server
is not currently configured to participate in this domain. </p>
<p>To connect
to the EIM domain controller, the user with which you connect must be a member
of an <a href="rzalveservereimauths.htm#rzalveservereimauths">EIM access control</a> group.
Your EIM access control group membership determines what tasks you can perform
in the domain and what EIM data you can view or change. </p>
<p>To connect
to an EIM domain, complete the following steps:</p>

<ol><li class="stepexpand"><span>Expand <span class="uicontrol">Network &gt; Enterprise Identity Mapping &gt; Domain
Management</span>.</span></li>
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Right-click the domain to which you want to connect. </span> <div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> If
the domain with which you want to work is not listed under <span class="uicontrol">Domain
Management</span>, you must <a href="rzalvadmindomainadd.htm#rzalvadmindomainadd">Add an EIM domain to the Domain Management folder</a>.</div>
</li>
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Right-click the EIM domain to which you want to connect and select <strong>Connect...</strong>.</span></li>
<li class="stepexpand"><span>On the <span class="uicontrol">Connect to EIM Domain Controller</span> dialog,
specify the <span class="uicontrol">User type</span>, provide the required identification
information for the user, and select a password option for connecting to the
domain controller.</span></li>
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Click <span class="uicontrol">Help</span>, if necessary, to determine what
information to specify for each field in the dialog.</span></li>
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Click <span class="uicontrol">OK</span> to connect to the domain controller.</span></li>
