<div><p>This topic provides information about how to set up a directory
index and directory listing on your HTTP Server with the <span>IBM<sup>®</sup> Web Administration for i5/OS™ interface</span>.</p>
<div class="important"><span class="importanttitle">Important:</span> Information
for this topic supports the latest PTF levels for HTTP Server for i5/OS .
It is recommended that you install the latest PTFs to upgrade to the latest
level of the HTTP Server for i5/OS. Some of the topics documented here are
not available prior to this update. <p>A directory index or directory listing shows files and subdirectories that
are contained in the directory. The server shows each subdirectory item or
each file on a separate line along with information about each item. Use caution
when configuring directory listing function, since it allows others to view
your directory structure. </p>
<p>To enable directory listings do the following: </p>
<ol><li>Click the <span class="uicontrol">Manage</span> tab. </li>
<li>Click the <span class="uicontrol">HTTP Servers</span> subtab.</li>
<li>Select your HTTP Server (powered by Apache) from the <span class="uicontrol">Server</span> list.
</li>
<li>Select the <a href="rzaiecontext.htm">context</a> you
want to work with from the <span class="uicontrol">Server area</span> list. </li>
<li>Expand <span class="uicontrol">Server Properties</span>. </li>
<li>Click <span class="uicontrol">Directory Handling</span>. </li>
<li>Click the <span class="uicontrol">General Settings</span> tab in the form. </li>
<li>Select <span class="uicontrol">Enabled</span> for your HTTP Server (powered by
Apache) to always search for a welcome or index file name. </li>
<li>Select <span class="uicontrol">Display directory listings for all directories</span>.
</li>
<li>Click <span class="uicontrol">Apply</span>. </li>
</ol>
<p>Once directory listings are enabled, you can customize the appearance of
the directory list (also called fancy indexing). Directory listing is optional.
</p>
<p>To customize the appearance of your directory list, do the following: </p>
<ol><li>Click the <span class="uicontrol">Appearance</span> tab in the form. </li>
<li>Select the options for your directory listing. View the help text for
specific field values. </li>
<li>Click <span class="uicontrol">OK</span>. </li>
