Troubleshoot iSeries NetServer using the QSYSOPR message queue

The system operator's message queue, QSYSOPR, is a good place to look for
information about iSeries NetServer™. Messages are logged to the QSYSOPR message queue
each time that iSeries NetServer starts and stops and when there are any specific errors
to report.

The first message indicates whether iSeries NetServer initialized completely during
startup. This message is important because it not only specifies whether iSeries NetServer started
properly, but it also lists the iSeries NetServer server name.

If iSeries NetServer fails to start successfully, the QSYSOPR message queue logs an
error message that indicates the reason for the failure.

Using Display Log (DSPLOG) to find iSeries NetServer

The Display Log (DSPLOG) CL command with parameter MSGID(CPIB680) displays
a message that indicates when iSeries NetServer started. The message also specifies the iSeries NetServer server
name. You may need to adjust the beginning date of the search by using the
PERIOD parameter. The message should read as follows:

iSeries Support for Windows Network Neighborhood (iSeries NetServer)
