<h1 class="topictitle1">Getting started with iSeries Navigator</h1>
<div><p>This topic discusses how to get started using the iSeries™ Navigator
operational interface.</p>
<div class="section"><p>To operate integrated Linux® servers on iSeries using a graphical interface,
you need to have iSeries Navigator
installed on your Windows® PC. iSeries Navigator is a no-charge component
of the iSeries Access
program product, which is included as standard with the <span class="keyword">i5/OS™</span> installation
CD-ROMs.</p>
<p>Before you can use iSeries Navigator you must install it.
You can install it from the iSeries Access CD-ROM, or directly from the iSeries itself,
providing that the 5722-XE1 licenced program product is installed. Note that
you do not need to have 5722-XE1 installed in order to use iSeries Navigator
on your Windows PC. For more information on installing iSeries Navigator,
refer to the <a href="../rzaj2/rzaj2enableopsnav.htm">Installing
iSeries Navigator</a>.</p>
<p>Note that iSeries Navigator requires that 5722-SS1,
option 12 (<span class="keyword">i5/OS</span> - Host
Servers) be installed on your iSeries. This option should be installed
by default, but you can check by using the Go Licensed Programs command (GO
LICPGM) and selecting option 10. </p>
<p>After you install iSeries Access
on Windows,
you must download and install the latest service pack from the following Web
site: </p>
<p><a href="http://www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/access/casp.htm" target="_blank">http://www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/access/casp.htm</a> <img src="www.gif" alt="Link outside information center" /></p>
<p>To access
the Linux administration
functions of iSeries Navigator,
complete the following steps:</p>
</div>
<ol><li class="stepexpand"><span>Launch iSeries Navigator from your Windows desktop.</span></li>
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Click <span class="menucascade"><span class="uicontrol">iSeries connection</span> &gt; <span class="uicontrol">Integrated
Server Administration</span></span>.</span> <p>The options
for administering integrated Linux servers are included under the Integrated
Server Administration option of iSeries Navigator. However, there are
some Windows administration
functions, such as Windows User Enrollment, which are not available
for Linux servers. </p>
<p>There
are two iSeries Navigator
- Integrated Server Administration displays that you use regularly when managing
integrated Linux servers.
They are:</p>
<dl><dt class="dlterm">Servers</dt>
<dd><p>This option is used to manage integrated Linux and Windows server instances installed on iSeries,
and is similar in function to the WRKCFGSTS *NWS CL command that you enter
on the <span class="keyword">i5/OS</span> command line.</p>
