<p>Before you install WebSphere Application Server - Express for iSeries, complete these tasks to ensure that all the prerequisites are met.</p>
|

<li><p>Plan to set aside enough time for each step of the process. For more information, see <a href="intime.htm">Time considerations for installing WebSphere Application Server - Express for iSeries</a>. Depending on your server, the process may take more or less time.</p>
|
|
<p><strong>Note:</strong> The installation of PTFs for products required by WebSphere Application Server - Express might require at least one initial program load (IPL or restart) of the server, so plan appropriately.</p></li>

<p><strong>Note:</strong> If you are running an iSeries server that does not meet the minimum recommended hardware requirements for WebSphere Application Server - Express, you can still install and run the product. The WebSphere Application Server - Express environment might run slowly, but your applications run successfully when the environment is running.</p></li>
