<div><p>Use these configuration steps for load balancing using virtual
IP and proxy ARP.</p>
<div class="section">Using <a href="rzajwlbvip.htm#failoverlocal">Figure 2</a> as
an example, the general configuration steps would be:</div>
<ol><li class="stepexpand" id="rzajwconfiglb__configtcp"><a name="rzajwconfiglb__configtcp"><!-- --></a><span>Configure a virtual TCP/IP interface</span> <p>Using iSeries™ Navigator,
create a virtual TCP/IP interface. The new Virtual IP interface wizard can
be found at: <span class="menucascade"><span class="uicontrol">Network</span> &gt; <span class="uicontrol">TCP/IP
Configuration</span> &gt; <span class="uicontrol">IPv4</span> &gt; <span class="uicontrol">Interfaces</span></span>. Then right-click <span class="uicontrol">Interfaces</span> and choose <span class="menucascade"><span class="uicontrol">New Interface</span> &gt; <span class="uicontrol">Virtual IP</span></span>.</p>
<p>For
our example, you will enter an IP address of 10.1.1.7 with a subnet mask of
255.255.255.255. After you have created the Virtual interface, right-click
the interface and select <span class="uicontrol">Properties</span>. Click the <span class="uicontrol">Advanced</span> tab
and select the <span class="uicontrol">Enable proxy ARP</span> check
box.</p>

<li class="stepexpand"><span>Create TCP/IP interfaces for all of your physical LAN connections</span> <p>Use the Create TCP/IP interface wizard to create your TCP/IP interfaces.
The wizard is in iSeries Navigator
and can be found at: <span class="menucascade"><span class="uicontrol">Network</span> &gt; <span class="uicontrol">TCP/IP
Configuration</span> &gt; <span class="uicontrol">IPv4</span> &gt; <span class="uicontrol">Interfaces</span></span>. Then right-click <span class="uicontrol">Interfaces</span> and choose <span class="menucascade"><span class="uicontrol">New Interface</span> &gt; <span class="uicontrol">Local Area Network</span></span>. Complete the wizard for each of your LAN connections.</p>
<p>For
our example, you will run the wizard three times entering the IP addresses
of 10.1.1.4, 10.1.1.5, and 10.1.1.6 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. After
you have completed each interface, right-click the interface and choose <span class="uicontrol">Properties</span>.
On the <span class="uicontrol">Advanced</span> tab, associate the interface with the
Virtual IP interface you created in step <a href="#rzajwconfiglb__configtcp">1</a>.
You can associate the interfaces with the <span class="uicontrol">Associated local interface</span> select
box.</p>
