Maximum LAN frame size

Typically, you set the maximum frame size to the largest size supported
by your input/output adapter (IOA). But, if the device cannot support your
frame size, change to a size that the device can support.

The larger your frame size, the more data your system can pack into it.
Hence, your data throughput can increase. However, a device will drop the
frame if it cannot support your frame size. If you cannot configure the device
to support your frame size, change your maximum frame size to a size that
the device can support.

You can change one or more of these maximum frame size fields (the parentheses
contain the location of the field):

Source service access point (SSAP) maximum frame size (line
description)

Maximum frame size (line descriptions for token ring and gigabit Ethernet
networks)

Maximum frame size (controller description)

The maximum frame size used by your system during the connection process
will be the smallest of these fields.
