<div><p>To use an existing token-ring line description with <span class="keyword">iSeries™</span> Navigator,
you must first change the values for these fields:</p>
<div class="section"> <ul><li>Resource name</li>
<li>Address field</li>
<li>Duplex</li>
<li>Line speed</li>
<li>Source service access point (SSAP) list (for TCP/IP only)</li>
<li>Link speed (optional: used for Advanced Peer-to-Peer
Networking (APPN) only)</li>
</ul>
<p>To change the fields, follow these steps:</p>
</div>
<ol><li><span><a href="#changing_ld_to_use_100mb__vary_off_the_line">Vary off</a> the
line description.</span></li>
<li><span><a href="#changing_ld_to_use_100mb__change_fields">Change</a> the
field values.</span></li>
</ol>
<div class="section"> <p id="changing_ld_to_use_100mb__vary_off_the_line"><a name="changing_ld_to_use_100mb__vary_off_the_line"><!-- --></a><strong>Vary off the line description:</strong></p>
<p>To
vary off the line description, use the Work with Line Descriptions (WRKLIND)
command like this:</p>
<ol><li>Type WRKLIND and press Enter.</li>
<li>Locate your line description and place your cursor in its Opt field.</li>
<li>Type 8 (Work with status) and press Enter.</li>
<li>Type 2 (Vary off) and press Enter.</li>
<li>If your line description does not vary off, place your cursor on the error
message and press F1 (Help) to view more information about the error. See <a href="../rzahb/rzahbrtrbshoo1.htm">Get started
with system troubleshooting</a> for more troubleshooting help.</li>
<li>If an error did not occur, press F3 (Exit) to exit the command, and continue
with the next step (Change the field values).</li>
</ol>
<p id="changing_ld_to_use_100mb__change_fields"><a name="changing_ld_to_use_100mb__change_fields"><!-- --></a><strong>Change the field values:</strong></p>
<p>Now you
must change the values in the fields by using the Change Line Description
(Token Ring) (CRTLINTRN) command. </p>
<p>To do this, follow these steps:</p>
<ol><li>Record the name of the token-ring card by doing these steps: <ol type="a"><li>Type WRKHDWRSC *CMN and press Enter.</li>
<li>Search the Type column to locate the correct token-ring card.</li>
<li>Record the name of the card that is found under the Resource column.</li>
<li>Press F3 (Exit).</li>
</ol>
</li>
<li>Type WRKLIND and press Enter.</li>
<li>Locate the line description to change.</li>
<li>Type 2 (Change) and press Enter.</li>
<li>Type the name of the selected tokenring card into the Resource name field.</li>
<li>In the Line speed field, indicate the speed of the input/output adapter
(IOA). <div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> You can enable automatic ring-speed sensing (<a href="rzajusupportedtokenringfeatures.htm#supported_token-ring_features__autosense">automatic sense</a>) when specifying *AUTO or 100M. Automatic sense starts
initially at 100 Mbps. To use automatic sense successfully, you must ensure
that your system or the switch that the system connects to is enabled for
ring-speed sensing. That is, you should enable ring-speed sensing only on
one device; otherwise, an incorrect speed might be selected.</div>
</li>
<li>Select the duplex mode to use with your IOA. <div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> <a href="rzajusupportedtokenringfeatures.htm#supported_token-ring_features__duplex_mode_negotiations">Duplex mode negotiation</a> occurs when you specify *AUTO or *FULL. The
negotiation starts initially at full-duplex mode. The switch must support
this type of negotiation before you can successfully use this function. If
you are not familiar with the capabilities of the IOA, see <a href="rzajutokenringioas.htm#token-ring_ioas">token-ring
IOAs</a>. </div>
</li>
<li>If you are using this line description with TCP/IP, ensure that source
service access point <a href="rzajuhigherlayersoverlanprotocols.htm#higher_layers_over_lan_protocols__ssaps_and_dsaps">(SSAP)</a> <span>X'AA'</span> and its associated information are in the SSAP list field.</li>
<li>If needed, specify a <a href="rzajutokenringframesize.htm#token-ring_frame_size">maximum
frame size</a>. If you are not familiar with the capabilities of the IOA,
see <a href="rzajutokenringioas.htm#token-ring_ioas">token-ring IOAs</a>.</li>
<li>Press Enter to save your changes, and then press F3 (Exit).</li>
<li>Continue with the next task. If you are using this line
description with Systems Network Architecture (SNA), <a href="rzajuconnectingtonetwork.htm#connecting_to_network">enable</a> the
description to accept connections. If you are using this line description
with TCP/IP, <a href="rzajuassignlinedescription.htm#assign_line_description">assign</a> it
to an interface.</li>
</ol>
