<p>To configure a new modem, follow these steps.</p>
|
|
<ol><li>In iSeries™ Navigator,
|
|
select your server, and expand <span class="menucascade"><span class="uicontrol">Network</span> > <span class="uicontrol">Remote Access Services</span></span>.</li>
|
|
<li>Right-click <span class="uicontrol">Modems</span>, and select <span class="uicontrol">New Modem</span>.</li>
|
|
<li>On the General tab, enter the correct values in all the field boxes.</li>
|
|
<li>Optional: Click the <span class="uicontrol">Additional Parameters</span> tab
|
|
to add any necessary initialization commands for your modem.</li>
|
|
<li>Click <span class="uicontrol">OK</span> to save your entries, and close the New
|
|
Modem Properties page.</li>

determine if you can use an existing modem description, follow these steps:</p>

|
<ol><li>In iSeries Navigator,
|
|
select your server, and expand <span class="menucascade"><span class="uicontrol">Network</span> > <span class="uicontrol">Remote Access Services</span></span>.</li>
|
|
<li>Select <span class="uicontrol">Modems</span>.</li>
|
|
<li>Review the modem list, and find the manufacturer name, model, and make
|
|
of your modem.<div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> If your modem is included in the default list, you do
|
|
not need to do any further steps.</div>
|
|
</li>
|
|
<li>Right-click the modem description that closely matches your modem, and
|
|
select <span class="uicontrol">Properties</span> to review the command strings.</li>
|
|
<li>Consult your modem documentation to determine the specific command strings
|
|
for your modem.<p>Use the default modem properties if the command strings
|
|
match your modem requirements. Otherwise, you need to create a modem description
|
|
for your modem, and add it to the modem list.</p>

<li>Select <span class="uicontrol">Modems</span>.</li>
|
|
<li>From the modem list, right-click <span class="uicontrol">Generic hayes</span>,
|
|
and select <span class="uicontrol">New modem based on</span>.</li>
|
|
<li>From the <span class="uicontrol">New Modem</span> dialog, change the command strings
|
|
to match the information that is required by your modem.</li>
