<h1 class="topictitle1">Activate the QSYSWRK subsystem</h1>
<div><p>The server job for a TCP/IP application must start in the QSYSWRK
subsystem. The spooling subsystem, QSPL, needs to be active to run printer
pass-through sessions.</p>
<div class="section">To check the status of the QSYSWRK subsystem, complete the following
steps:</div>
<ol><li class="stepexpand"><span>In the iSeries™ server character-based interface, type <samp class="codeph">WRKSBS</samp> (Work
with active subsystems).</span></li>
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Verify that the following systems are displayed:</span> <ul><li>QSYSWRK</li>
<li>QINTER</li>
<li>QSPL</li>
</ul>

</ol>
<div class="section"><p>If the QSYSWRK subsystem is not active, complete the following
steps:</p>
<ol><li>In the iSeries server
character-based interface, type <samp class="codeph">STRSBS</samp> (Start subsystem).</li>
<li>Type <samp class="codeph">QSYSWRK</samp> for the Subsystem description and <samp class="codeph">QSYS</samp> for
the library, then press Enter.</li>
<li>Repeat for Subsystem name <samp class="codeph">QINTER</samp> with Library <samp class="codeph">QSYS</samp> and
for Subsystem name <samp class="codeph">QSPL</samp> and Library <samp class="codeph">QSYS</samp>.</li>
</ol>
<p>If you do not know which subsystem to use for interactive jobs, type
WRKSBSD *ALL in the iSeries character-based interface. The Work Station
Type entries show you which device is allocated to a subsystem.</p>
