<h1 class="topictitle1">Distribute software using central site distribution</h1>
<div><p><span><img src="./delta.gif" alt="Start of change" />Central site distribution is the process of duplicating
the software of one server or duplicating the software of a logical partition,
and distributing it to multiple servers or partitions. <img src="./deltaend.gif" alt="End of change" /></span></p>
<p><img src="./delta.gif" alt="Start of change" />This mechanism is especially useful and convenient when your
network is large and you want all the <span class="keyword">i5/OS™</span> servers
or logical partitions in your computing environment to be identical. The central
site distribution process saves you time, effort, and expense by reducing
the number of steps in the installation procedures for the target systems.
For example, if you apply a cumulative PTF package on your source system before
you distribute your software, you save time because you do not have to apply
the same package on your target systems.<img src="./deltaend.gif" alt="End of change" /></p>
<p>If you plan to distribute the software of a full-system upgrade including
user data to only one server, go to the <a href="../rzamc/rzamc1.htm">Data Migrations</a> topic.</p>
<p>You can also distribute one or more licensed programs using CD-ROM. For
instructions about premastering a CD-ROM for distribution, refer to <a href="http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/optical/cdrom/cddist.htm" target="_blank">Using CD-ROM in Distributing iSeries Software</a> <img src="www.gif" alt="Link outside Information Center" />. </p>
