<div><p>Use this method if you are unable to use the <span class="wintitle">EZ-Setup</span> wizard.</p>

<div class="section"> <p>If you are unable to use the iSeries™ Navigator's <span class="wintitle">EZ-Setup</span> wizard,
|
|
use the character-based interface instead. For example, if you want to use iSeries Navigator
|
|
from a PC that requires basic TCP/IP configuration before iSeries Navigator
|
|
will run, then you should use the character-based interface to perform the
|
|
basic configuration.</p>
|
|
<p>To perform the configuration steps discussed in
|
|
this section, you need *IOSYSCFG special authority in your user profile. For
|
|
more information about this type of authority, see the chapter on user profiles
|
|
in <a href="../books/sc415302.pdf" target="_blank">iSeries Security
|
|
Reference</a> <img src="wbpdf.gif" alt="Link to PDF" />.</p>

<p>To configure TCP/IP using the character-based interface, follow
|
|
these steps:</p>

<ol><li><span>On the command line, type <kbd class="userinput">GO TCPADM</kbd> to display
|
|
the TCP/IP Administration menu, and then press Enter.</span></li>
|
|
<li><span>Specify option 1 (Configure TCP/IP) to display the Configure TCP/IP
|
|
menu (<samp class="codeph">CFGTCP</samp>), and then press Enter. Use this menu to select
|
|
configuration tasks. Take a few moments to review the menu before starting
|
|
to configure your server.</span></li>
