<title>Directory Server (LDAP) - Set up Web administration for the first time</title>

<h3 id="rzahyconsole">Set up Web administration for the first time</h3>
<p>Do the following to set up the Directory Server Web Administration Tool
for the first time.</p>
<ol type="1">
<li>Install IBM&reg; WebSphere&reg; Application Server - Express 5.1 (5722E51 Base
and Option 2) and associated prerequisite software if they are not already
installed.</li>
<li>Enable the system application server instance in the HTTP ADMIN server
instance. See the <a href="../rzaie/rzaiemain.htm">IBM HTTP Server</a> topic for more information.
<ol type="a">
<li>Start the HTTP ADMIN server instance by doing one of the following.
<ul>
<li>In iSeries&trade; Navigator, click <span class="bold">Network</span> -> <span class="bold">Servers</span> -> <span class="bold">TCP/IP</span> and
right-click <span class="bold">HTTP Administration</span>. Then click <span class="bold">Start</span>.</li>
<li>On a command line type <tt class="xph">STRTCPSVR SERVER(*HTTP) HTTPSVR(*ADMIN).</tt></li></ul></li>
<li>Log in to the IBM Web Administration for iSeries. Use an operating system user profile
and password to log in to the iSeries Tasks page (http://<span class="italic">your_server</span>:2001), then click <span class="bold">IBM Web Administration
for iSeries</span>.</li>
<li>From the HTTP Server Administration <span class="italic">your_server</span> page,
click the <span class="bold">Manage</span> tab and then click the <span class="bold">HTTP Servers</span> tab. Make sure <span class="bold">ADMIN - Apache</span> is selected in the <span class="bold">Server</span> drop-down list and that <span class="bold">Include /QIBM/UserData/HTTPA/admin/conf/admin-cust.conf</span> is selected in the <span class="bold">Server Area</span> drop-down
list.</li>
<li>From the options in the left pane of the page, click <span class="bold">General Server Configuration</span>.

<div class="notebody">You might need to expand
the section <span class="bold">Server Properties</span> in order to see
the <span class="bold">General Server Configuration</span> option.</div></li>
<li>Set <span class="bold">Start the system application server instance
when the 'Admin' server is started</span> to <span class="bold">Yes</span>.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">OK</span>.</li>
<li>Restart the HTTP ADMIN server instance by clicking on the restart button
(the second button under the <span class="bold">HTTP Servers</span> tab).
You can also stop and start the HTTP ADMIN server instance using the iSeries Navigator
or a command line.
<p>You can stop the HTTP ADMIN server instance by doing
one of the following. </p>
<ul>
<li> In iSeries Navigator click <span class="bold">Network -> Servers
-> TCP/IP</span> and right-click <span class="bold">HTTP Administration</span>. Then click <span class="bold">Stop</span>.</li>
<li>On a command line type <tt class="xph">ENDTCPSVR SERVER(*HTTP) HTTPSVR(*ADMIN)</tt>.</li></ul>
<p>You can start the HTTP ADMIN server instance by doing one of the
following.</p>
<ul>
<li>In iSeries Navigator click <span class="bold">Network -> Servers
-> TCP/IP</span> and right-click <span class="bold">HTTP Administration</span>. Then click <span class="bold">Start</span>.</li>
<li>On a command line type <tt class="xph">STRTCPSVR SERVER(*HTTP) HTTPSVR(*ADMIN)</tt>.</li></ul> See the <a href="../rzaie/rzaiemain.htm">IBM HTTP Server</a> topic for more information.</li></ol></li>
<li>Log in to the Directory Server Web Administration Tool.
<ol type="a">
<li>Bring up the <span class="bold">Login page</span> by doing one of
the following.
<ul>
<li>From iSeries Navigator, select your server and click <span class="bold">Network</span> -> <span class="bold">Servers</span> -> <span class="bold">TCP/IP</span>, right click <span class="bold">IBM Directory Server</span>, and click <span class="bold">Server Administration</span>.</li>
<li>From the iSeries Tasks page (http://<span class="italic">your_server</span>:2001) click <span class="bold">IBM Directory Server for iSeries</span>.</li></ul></li>
<li>Select <span class="bold">Console Admin</span> in the <span class="bold">LDAP Hostname</span> field.</li>
<li>Type <tt class="xph">superadmin</tt> in the <span class="bold">Username</span> field.</li>
<li>Type <tt class="xph">secret</tt> in the <span class="bold">Password</span> field.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">Login</span>. The IBM Directory Server Web Administration Tool
page is displayed.</li></ol></li>
<li>Change the console administration login.
<ol type="a">
<li>Click <span class="bold">Console administration</span> in the left
pane to expand the section, and then click <span class="bold">Change
console administrator login</span>.</li>
<li>Type a new console administration login name in the <span class="bold">Console administrator login</span> field.</li>
<li>Type the current password (<tt class="xph">secret</tt>) in the <span class="bold">Current password</span> field.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">OK</span>.</li></ol></li>
<li>Change the console administration password. Click <span class="bold">Change console administrator password</span> in the left pane.</li>
<li>Add the Directory Server that you want to administer. Click <span class="bold">Manage console servers</span> in the left pane.

<div class="notebody">When adding
a Directory Server, the <span class="bold">Administration port</span> is
not used and will be ignored.</div></li>
<li>If you want to change console properties. Click <span class="bold">Manage console properties</span> in the left pane.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">Logout</span>. When the Logout successful
screen appears, click the <span class="bold">here</span> link to return
to the Web administration login page.</li></ol>
<p>After you have configured the console for the first time, you can return
to the console at any time to:</p>
<ul>
<li>Change the console administrator login and password.</li>
<li>Change which Directory Servers that can be administered by the Web administration
tool.</li>
<li>Change console properties.</li></ul>
