<p>You use the IBM<sup>®</sup> Toolbox
for Java™ security
classes to provide secured connections to a server, verify a user's identity,
and associate a user with the operating system thread when running on the
local server. The security services included are: </p>
<ul><li>Communications infrastructure using <a href="ssljsse.htm#ssljsse">Java Secure
Socket Extension (JSSE)</a> provides secure connections both by encrypting
the data exchanged between a client and a server session and by performing
server authentication.</li>
<li><a href="secauth.htm#secauth">Authentication Services</a> provide
the ability to: <ul><li>Authenticate a user identity and password against the i5/OS™ user registry.</li>
<li>Ability to assign an identity to the current i5/OS thread.</li>
