<div><p>The IBM® Toolbox
for Java™ classes
can be referenced at their location in the integrated file system on the server. </p>
<div class="section"><p>Because program temporary fixes (PTFs) are applied to this location, Java programs
that access these classes directly on the server automatically receive these
updates. But, Accessing the classes from the server does not always work,
specifically for the following situations:</p>
<ul><li>If a low-speed communication link connects server and the client, the
performance of loading the classes from the server may be unacceptable.</li>
<li>If Java applications use the CLASSPATH environment variable
to access the classes on the client file system, you need iSeries™ Access
for Windows® to
redirect file system calls to the server. It may not be possible for iSeries Access
for Windows to
reside on the client.</li>
</ul>
<p>In these cases, installing the classes on the client is a better solution.</p>
