<div><p>When an application program that refers to a relational database
on a remote server is precompiled and bound, an SQL package is created on
the application server (AS) to contain the control structures necessary to
process any SQL statements in the application.</p>
<div class="section"><p>An SQL package is an <span class="keyword">iSeries™</span> object,
so it can be saved to media or a save file using the <span class="cmdname">Save Object
(SAVOBJ)</span> command and restored using the <span class="cmdname">Restore Object
(RSTOBJ)</span> command. </p>

<div class="section"><p>An SQL package must be restored to a collection that has the
same name as the collection from which it was saved, and an SQL package cannot
be renamed.</p>
