<div><p>These <span class="keyword">iSeries™</span> utilities
support DDM for accessing remote files.</p>
<div class="section"><div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Notes:</span> <ol><li>The following utilities do <em>not</em> support DDM: <span class="keyword">iSeries</span> Query,
source entry utility (SEU), screen design aid (SDA), and advanced printer
function utility.</li>
<li>Except when the <span class="keyword">System/38™</span>-compatible
database tools or DFU/400 is being used, DDM does not support displaying lists
of members in remote files. However, if the target server is an <span class="keyword">iSeries server</span> or
a <span class="keyword">System/38</span>, display station
pass-through can be used to perform this function.</li>
<li>The SQL/400<sup>®</sup> licensed
program and query management, part of the <span class="keyword">i5/OS™</span> licensed
program, do not support DDM. However, both support the Distributed
Relational Database Architecture™ (DRDA<sup>®</sup>) in a distributed network.</li>

The topic collection describes the <span class="keyword">System/38</span>-compatible
data file utility (DFU/38) and the <span class="keyword">System/38</span>-compatible
query utility (Query/38).</li>
<li class="ulchildlink"><strong><a href="rbae5datafileutility.htm">Data file utility for iSeries server</a></strong><br />
Data file utility (DFU) data entry applications can be created and started with DDM to work with remote files in the same manner as with local files. Most DFU functions are performed with the remote file as though it were a local file.</li>
<li class="ulchildlink"><strong><a href="rbae5dbquery.htm">i5/OS database query</a></strong><br />
The database interactive query function, provided by the <span class="keyword">i5/OS</span> licensed program, supports
DDM files.</li>
<li class="ulchildlink"><strong><a href="rbae5sortutility.htm">Sort utility</a></strong><br />
The sort utility supports remote file processing with DDM anywhere
that it supports local file processing for both <span class="keyword">iSeries</span> and
non-<span class="keyword">iSeries</span> target servers.</li>
