<div><p>Each <span class="keyword">iSeries™ server</span> in
|
|
a DDM network that is not using <span class="keyword">OptiConnect</span> must
|
|
have these communications requirements. </p>
|
|
<div class="section"><ul><li>The APPC/APPN support or the <span class="keyword">iSeries Access Family</span> licensed
|
|
program installed and configured on the server. </li>
|
|
<li>At least one Systems Network Architecture (SNA) communications line connection
|
|
that uses synchronous data link communications (SDLC), token-ring network,
|
|
Ethernet, or X.25 protocol.</li>
|
|
</ul>
|
|

<div class="section"><p>The number of sessions that can be used for DDM conversations
|
|
is not limited by DDM. The maximum is determined in the same manner as for
|
|
any other APPC-related communications. For parallel sessions, the session
|
|
maximum is specified in the mode. For single session devices, the session
|
|
maximum is always one. </p>
|
|

<div class="section"><p><span class="keyword">iSeries server</span>s in a
|
|
DDM network that use <span class="keyword">OptiConnect</span> must
|
|
have the <span class="keyword">OptiConnect</span> software
|
|
and hardware installed. <span class="keyword">OptiConnect</span> replaces
|
|
the need for SNA communications line connections. </p>
