<h3>Message queue (MSGQ)</h3>
<p>Specifies the message queue from which messages are shown.
</p>
<p><b>Note:</b> The special values *WRKSTN, *WRKUSR, *USRPRF, and *SYSOPR should be specified for this parameter only when you are in an interactive job.

<h3>Output (OUTPUT)</h3>
<p>Specifies whether the output from the command is displayed at the requesting work station or printed with the job's spooled output.
</p>

<dd>The output is shown (if requested by an interactive job) or printed with the job's spooled output (if requested by a batch job). Immediate messages and predefined messages are truncated to 105 characters when printed.

<dd>The output is printed with the job's spooled output.
</dd>
</dl>
<p>When the output is printed, two lines are printed for each message. The second line contains the following information:

<ul>
<li>Qualified job name of the job that sent the message. This consists of the following three fields:
<ul>
<li>Job name
</li>
<li>User name
</li>
<li>Job number
</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Name of the program that sent the message
</li>
<li>Instruction number in program that sent the message. For non-program message queues this is always zeroes.
</li>
<li>The date and time the message was sent.
</li>
<li>The name of the user profile that the thread was running under when the message was sent.
</li>

<h3>Message type (MSGTYPE)</h3>
<p>Specifies the type of messages in the message queue that are shown.
</p>

<dd>All messages that are in the message queue are shown.
</dd>
<dt><b>*INFO</b></dt>
<dd>Only informational messages (those not requiring a reply) are shown.
</dd>
<dt><b>*INQ</b></dt>
<dd>Only inquiry messages (those requiring a reply) are shown.
</dd>
<dt><b>*COPY</b></dt>
<dd>A copy of each sender's message that was sent to another message queue and required a reply is shown.

<h3>Severity code filter (SEV)</h3>
<p>Specifies the lowest severity code value that a message can have and be shown. If the message's severity code is lower than the value specified here, the message is not shown.

<dd>All messages in the specified message queue are shown.
</dd>
<dt><b>*MSGQ</b></dt>
<dd>All messages having a severity code greater than or equal to the severity code specified for the message queue are shown.

<dd>Specify the lowest severity code value that a message can have and still be shown. Valid values range from 00 through 99.

<p>Specifies which user interface to display.

<dd>The user interface stored in the current user profile is used.
</dd>

<dd>The Work with Messages display is shown. This user interface separates messages into two categories: 1) messages requiring a reply and 2) messages not requiring a reply. New messages are shown at the top of each message list.
</dd>
<dt><b>*INTERMED</b></dt>
<dd>The Display Messages display is shown.
</dd>
