<p>The Control File System (QHFCTLFS) API transmits commands to your file system to be performed. The commands must be defined by the file system.</p>

<h3>Required Parameter Group</h3>

<dt><strong>Open file handle</strong></dt>
<dd>INPUT; CHAR(16)
<p>The identifier returned when the file was opened with the Open Stream File (QHFOPNSF) API. If you specify a file system in the file system name parameter, this parameter is ignored.</p>
</dd>
<dt><strong>File system name</strong></dt>
<dd>INPUT; CHAR(10)
<p> The registered file system to send the request to. Valid values are:</p>

<td valign="top">The name of the registered file system. The open file handle parameter is ignored.</td>

<dt><strong>Input data buffer</strong></dt>
<dd>INPUT; CHAR(*)
<p>The command string to send to the file system. This string differs from file system to file system. The QHFCTLFS API simply passes it on.</p>

<dt><strong>Input data buffer length</strong></dt>
<dd>INPUT; BINARY(4)
<p> The length of the input data buffer, in bytes.</p>
</dd>
<dt><strong>Output data buffer</strong></dt>
<dd>OUTPUT; CHAR(*)
<p> The data returned from the file system.</p>
</dd>
<dt><strong>Output data buffer length</strong></dt>
<dd>INPUT; BINARY(4)
<p> The length of the output data buffer, in bytes.</p>
</dd>
<dt><strong>Length of data returned</strong></dt>
<dd>OUTPUT; BINARY(4)
<p>The length of the data returned by the file system in the output data buffer, in bytes.</p>

<dd>I/O; CHAR(*)
<p>The structure in which to return error information. For the format of the structure, see <a href="../apiref/error.htm#hdrerrcod">Error Code Parameter</a>.</p>
