<h4 id="rzalufidel">Fidelity (FIDELITY) parameter</h4>
<p>For AFP&trade; functions that are not supported, the FIDELITY parameter allows the
user to determine if a spooled file with advanced printing functions should
continue to print on an IPDS&trade; printer configured AFP(*YES) or stop printing when
an advanced printing function is encountered that is not supported. For example,
if a spooled file containing bar code commands is to be printed on a 3820
printer and the FIDELITY parameter value is: </p>
<ul>
<li>*ABSOLUTE, the spooled file does not print because the 3820 does not support
bar codes.</li>
<li>*CONTENT, the spooled file prints without the bar codes.</li></ul>
<a name="wq297"></a>
<div class="notetitle" id="wq297">Note:</div>
<div class="notebody">If the device description of the printer has the value
for the print while converting (PRTCVT) parameter set to *YES, the spooled
file can print the pages up to the point where the bar code was encountered
no matter what the fidelity parameter value is.</div>
<p><span class="bold">Fidelity and other printer file parameters</span></p>
<p>If FIDELITY(*ABSOLUTE) is specified, the following list of printer file
parameters must have a valid value specified for the selected printer. Otherwise,
the spooled file is held. </p>
<ul>
<li>DRAWER</li>
<li>FONT</li>
<li>DUPLEX</li>
<li>MULTIUP</li>
<li>OUTBIN</li>
<li>PAGRTT</li>
<li>FRONTOVL</li>
<li>BACKOVL</li></ul>
<p>If FIDELITY (*CONTENT) is specified, a default value is used. For example,
if DUPLEX (*YES) is requested, but the printer does not support duplex printing,
the spooled file is printed on one side of the paper.</p>
