Enable iSeries NetServer

iSeries™ NetServer™ enables Windows clients to connect
to i5/OS™ shared directory paths and shared output queues by way of TCP/IP.
To install service packs, you must be signed on with a Windows account that
corresponds to an iSeries user profile with the same password, or you must
have a guest NetServer user profile configured.

If you plan to use iSeries NetServer only to perform maintenance tasks,
you can set it up without iSeries Navigator. In that case, you can use
the quickstart method found in the "Configure iSeries server for NetServer"topic. If you want the full capabilities
of iSeries NetServer, you need iSeries Navigator, which requires setting up iSeries Access (see iSeries Access for Windows on integrated Windows servers) on a PC that you use for administration.
Once you have set up either version, you need to set up a guest user profile.
See Create a guest user profile for iSeries NetServer.
