<div class="notebody">You must have security administrator (*SECADM) special authority

to create, change, or display CHAP information.</div>
|
|
<p>To configure CHAP, or to change CHAP credentials, do the following steps:</p>
|
|
<ol type="1">
|
|
<li>With the server shut down (NWSD varied off), use the procedure described
|
|
in <a href="rzahqchangeremotesysconfig.htm#rzahqchangeremotesysconfig">Change remote system configuration properties</a> to change the properties of the
|
|
remote system configuration for the server. Go to the <span class="bold">CHAP
|
|
Authentication</span> tab.
|
|
<ul>
|
|
<li>To enable CHAP, select the <span class="bold">Use the following values
|
|
for CHAP authentication</span> option and specify a <span class="bold">CHAP name</span> and select the <span class="bold">Generate CHAP secret once</span> option.</li>
|
|
<li>To disable CHAP, select the <span class="bold">Do not use CHAP</span> option.</li></ul></li>
|
|
<li>Use the procedure described in <a href="rzahqdisiplayremotesysconfig.htm#rzahqdisiplayremotesysconfig">Display remote system configuration properties</a> to
|
|
display the properties of the remote system configuration for the server.
|
|
<ul>
|
|
<li>On the <span class="bold">CHAP Authentication tab</span>, note the <span class="bold">CHAP name</span> and <span class="bold">CHAP secret</span>.</li>
|
|
<li>On the <span class="bold">Boot Parameters</span> tab, note the boot parameter
|
|
delivery method.</li></ul></li>
|
|
<li>This step is required if the boot parameter delivery method is <span class="bold">Manually configured on remote system</span> or <span class="bold">Dynamically
|
|
delivered to remote system via CHAP</span>. Upon the next server start (NWSD
|
|
vary on), watch the hosted system's console for a prompt to press CTRL-Q.
|
|
Immediately on seeing the prompt, press <tt>CTRL-Q</tt>.
|
|
In the CTRL-Q utility, select the adapter that is configured to boot the hosted
|
|
OS. Enter the CHAP name and secret from the remote system configuration properties
|
|
into the CHAP name and secret fields of the CTRL-Q target security configuration
|
|
panel. Do not enter this information into the CTRL-Q initiator configuration
|
|
panel.
