Considerations for the automatic deletion of APPC controller descriptions
on the LAN

The system is set to automatically delete APPC controllers and devices
that were automatically created. The time interval to delete APPC controller
is set to 1440 minutes or 24 hours. For virtual APPN controllers, the default
is 10,000 minutes. The automatic delete controller (AUTODLTCTL) parameter
is on the CRTLINxxx and CHGLINxxx commands for local area network (LAN) lines.
LAN lines include token ring, Ethernet, wireless, and distributed data interface
(DDI).

To configure your LAN line to allow automatic deletion of the APPC controller
descriptions, use the following information:

Consider what time of the day would be the best for all users on the system.
If automatic deletion occurred over the weekend, on monday morning all devices
would be re-created and increase the system workload.

Consider when weekends and holidays occur and increase the value of this
parameter to take into account the most common working environment.

Note:

For personal computers on local area networks, consider using a
large value for this parameter (for example, 5 days) to prevent deletions
if someone goes on vacation.

The AUTODLTCTL parameter can help manage the number of objects that are
on the system. Multiple routes through the network can lead to multiple sets
of configuration objects. This parameter can be used to automate the cleanup
of these objects.
