<div><p>This topic discusses how to unlink integrated Linux<sup>®</sup> server
|
||
drives.</p>
|
||
<p>You can unlink a Linux drive from a Linux server either when the server is
|
||
shut down or when it is up and running. Unlinking a dynamic storage space
|
||
from a running server is only possible at V5R3 or later, and before you unlink
|
||
the drive you must ensure that:</p>
|
||
<ul><li>No users are using the Linux drive to be unlinked.</li>
|
||
<li>The drive was linked dynamically in the first place.</li>
|
||
<li>If the disk is part of an active logical volume group, it cannot be unlinked.</li>
|
||
</ul>
|
||
<div class="section"><h4 class="sectiontitle">Unlinking Linux drives using iSeries™ Navigator</h4><p>To unlink
|
||
a Linux drive
|
||
using iSeries Navigator,
|
||
complete the following steps:</p>
|
||
<ol><li>If you want to unlink the Linux drive dynamically, unmount the drive
|
||
from the server using the umount command from the Linux server’s console.</li>
|
||
<li>If you do not want to unlink the drive dynamically, shut down the Linux server
|
||
to which the drive is linked.</li>
|
||
<li>Click <span class="uicontrol">All Virtual Disks</span> under <strong>Integrated Server
|
||
Administration</strong>.</li>
|
||
<li>Right-click the drive you want to unlink.</li>
|
||
<li>Select <span class="uicontrol">Remove link</span> to open the Remove Link from
|
||
Server window. The disk drive name and description that you specified when
|
||
you created the storage space are displayed.</li>
|
||
<li>Click <span class="uicontrol">Remove</span> to unlink the drive.</li>
|
||
</ol>

<div class="section"><h4 class="sectiontitle">Unlinking Linux drives using CL commands</h4><p>To unlink
|
||
a Linux drive
|
||
using a CL command, complete the following steps:</p>
|
||
<ol><li>If you want to unlink the Linux drive dynamically, unmount the drive
|
||
from the server using the umount command from the Linux server’s console.</li>
|
||
<li>If you do not want to unlink the drive dynamically, shut down the Linux server
|
||
to which the drive is linked.</li>
|
||
<li>Type in <kbd class="userinput">WRKNWSSTG</kbd>. Press <span class="uicontrol">Enter</span>.
|
||
The Work with Network Server Storage Spaces display appears. Type <kbd class="userinput">11</kbd> in
|
||
the Opt column next to the storage space that you want to unlink. Press <span class="uicontrol">Enter</span>.
|
||
The Remove Server Storage Link display appears.</li>
|
||
<li>Optionally, you can type <kbd class="userinput">RMVNWSSTGL</kbd> on the command
|
||
line. Press <span class="uicontrol">Enter</span>. The Remove Server Storage Link display
|
||
appears.<ol type="a"><li>For “Network server storage space” enter the storage space name.</li>
|
||
<li>For “Network server description” enter the NWSD that corresponds to your Linux server.</li>
|
||
<li>You might need to press <span class="uicontrol">F9</span> to see
|
||
the Renumber link parameter. It is recommended that you take the default of
|
||
*YES for this parameter unless you plan to relink the drive at a later time. </li>
|
||
</ol>

||

||
<li>Press <span class="uicontrol">Enter</span>. You see a message at the bottom of
|
||
the display confirming that the storage space was unlinked successfully from
|
||
the NWSD.</li>
