<div><p>This topic discusses how to restrict tape and optical drive usage
for your integrated Linux<sup>®</sup> server.</p>
<div class="section"><p>You can prevent a Linux server from using a particular tape
or optical device by specifying the tape or optical device as a restricted
resource in the servers NWSD.</p>

<div><div class="section"><p>To restrict devices, complete the following steps:</p>

<ol><li class="stepexpand"><span>Shut down the integrated Linux server.</span></li>
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Type <kbd class="userinput">WRKNWSD</kbd> on the <span class="keyword">i5/OS™</span> command
line. Press <span class="uicontrol">Enter</span>. The Work with Network Server Descriptions
display appears. Type <kbd class="userinput">2</kbd> in the Opt column next to the
NWSD that you want to change. Press <span class="uicontrol">Enter</span>. The Change
Network Server Desc display appears.</span></li>
<li class="stepexpand"><strong>Optional: </strong><span>Type <kbd class="userinput">CHGNWSD</kbd> on the
command line. Press <span class="uicontrol">Enter</span>. The Change Network Server
Desc display appears. Enter the name of the NWSD. Press <span class="uicontrol">Enter</span>.</span></li>
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Scroll down to the Restricted device resources parameter (RSTDEVRSC)
and list the devices that are not to be made available. To specify more than
two resources, type a <kbd class="userinput">+</kbd> in the + for more values field
and press <span class="uicontrol">Enter</span>.</span> <p>After you have entered
your resources press <span class="uicontrol">Enter</span>. Here is an example:</p>
