<div><p>The load source unit is the storage unit that contains the initial programs
and data that are used during an initial program load (IPL) of the system.
The load source unit is typically configured as an internal storage unit,
but can also be configured as an external storage unit located on a storage
area network (SAN).</p>
<p>For information on using an external load source unit that is located on
a SAN, see the IBM® Redbook <a href="http://publib-b.boulder.ibm.com/Redbooks.nsf/RedbookAbstracts/sg247120.html" target="_blank">iSeries™ and TotalStorage®</a> <img src="rbpdf.gif" alt="Link to PDF" />, SG24-7120.</p>
