<div><p>The speed of data transfer is limited by the connection type, cabling,
and maximum speeds that your server and link partner support.</p>
<p><img src="./delta.gif" alt="Start of change" /> These speeds can be 10, 100, 1000 Mbps (1 Gbps), or 10 000
Mbps (10 Gbps). <img src="./deltaend.gif" alt="End of change" /></p>
<p>The cable type you use will directly limit what speed you can transmit
and receive data. For more information about cabling types and their capabilities,
see the Establish a physical connection to your network topic.</p>
<p>The maximum line speed of your server is also affected by the type of input/output
adapter (IOA) that you are using. For more specific information about each
supported IOA, see the Hardware requirements for Ethernet topic.</p>
