Bridges dropping frames

A remote bridge discards your frame if it does not support your
frame size. Also, the network can discard your frame if it does not support
your frame size.

In a token-ring environment, the bridge informs the system
that originated the connection of the supported frame sizes. The system then
automatically tries to reconnect with that frame size.

If you cannot configure the bridge to support your frame size or a larger
frame size, adjust the MAXFRAME parameter to a value that is acceptable to
the bridge. The system has these MAXFRAME parameters that are shown in order
of precedence:

The source service access point (SSAP) MAXFRAME parameter in the line
description.

The MAXFRAME parameter in the line description (except Ethernet line descriptions).

The MAXFRAME parameter in the controller description.

The SSAP MAXFRAME parameter affects only one device. That is, only that
device will use a frame size of SSAP MAXFRAME.

The MAXFRAME parameter that is in the line description affects all devices
that use that description.

The MAXFRAME parameter that is in the controller description affects all
lines and devices that use that description.

You set the precedence when specifying a MAXFRAME value. If you define
a value for the first parameter (SSAP MAXFRAME) and then the second parameter,
your system uses the value of the first parameter. To use the value of the
second parameter, you should not specify a value for the first parameter.
