<div><p>Procedures for enabling permissions and tools to allow console
takeover </p>
<div class="section"> <p>Before you can enable console take over, you must have the take
over console privilege. Use the procedure below to grant take over console
privilege and then continue with the next procedure to enable console take
over.</p>
<p>To add the take over console privilege to a user, perform the
following:</p>
<div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> To perform any of the following procedures using SST,
select the option Work with service tools user IDs and Devices everywhere
it says select Work with DST environment and skip the step Select <span class="uicontrol">System
Devices</span>.</div>

<ol><li class="stepexpand"><span>Access Dedicated Service Tools (DST) or System Service Tools (SST).</span></li>
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Select <span class="uicontrol">Work with DST environment</span>.</span></li>
<li class="stepexpand"><span>Select <span class="uicontrol">Service tools user IDs</span>.</span></li>
<li class="stepexpand" id="enableconsoletakeover__takeoverstep4"><a name="enableconsoletakeover__takeoverstep4"><!-- --></a><span> Place a <kbd class="userinput">7</kbd> on the line
in front of the desired user ID and press <span class="uicontrol">Enter</span>.</span></li>
<li class="stepexpand" id="enableconsoletakeover__takeoverstep5"><a name="enableconsoletakeover__takeoverstep5"><!-- --></a><span> Scroll down until you find the option <span class="uicontrol">Take
over console</span> and place a <kbd class="userinput">2</kbd> on that line
to grant the user this privilege and press <span class="uicontrol">Enter</span>.</span> <p>To repeat this procedure for additional user IDs, repeat steps 4
and 5.</p>
<p>This privilege will be used the next time the user ID signs on.</p>
<div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> When
a user signs on at a device capable of taking over the console the status
of the Take over the console field is updated. In order to reflect a change,
such as a user being granted the take over console privilege, the user would
have to exit the Console Information Status window, using <span class="uicontrol">F3</span> or <span class="uicontrol">F12</span> and
sign on again.</div>
<p>To enable the console take over and recovery, perform
the following:</p>
<ol type="a"><li><span>Access Dedicated Service Tools (DST) or System Service Tools
(SST).</span></li>
<li><span>Select <span class="uicontrol">Work with DST environment</span>.</span></li>
<li><span>Select <span class="uicontrol">System devices</span> (skip this step
if using SST).</span></li>
<li><span>Select <span class="uicontrol">Select Console</span>.</span></li>
<li><span>Place a <kbd class="userinput">1</kbd> in the option <span class="uicontrol">Allow
console to be taken over by another console</span> and press <span class="uicontrol">Enter</span>.</span></li>
