<div><p>Deleting an existing local or remote console while using Operations
Console </p>
<div class="section"><p>You may need to delete an existing local console or remote console
to meet your specific needs while using Operations Console. You must be a
member of the Administrators group to delete a console.</p>
<div class="p"><div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> You
may also use the Delete key on the keyboard. Just highlight the configuration
you want to delete and press the Delete key.</div>

<div><div class="section"><p>To delete an existing local console, follow these steps:</p>

<ol><li><span>If your local console is connected to a server, disconnect as follows;
otherwise, go to step 2:</span><ol type="a"><li class="substepexpand"><span>If the local console does not have control, do the following
to request control; otherwise, go to step 1b:</span> <ol type="i"><li>Select the configuration name from the Operations Console window.</li>
<li>From the <span class="uicontrol">Connection</span> menu, click <span class="uicontrol">Request
Control</span>.</li>
<li>If the Service Device Sign-on window appears, click <span class="uicontrol">Cancel</span>.</li>
</ol>

<li class="substepexpand"><span>Select the configuration name from the Operations Console window.</span></li>
<li class="substepexpand"><span>From the <span class="uicontrol">Connection</span> menu, click <span class="uicontrol">Disconnect</span>.
The connection status shows <samp class="codeph">Disconnecting</samp>.</span></li>
<li class="substepexpand"><span>Wait until the connection status shows <samp class="codeph">Disconnected</samp> at
the local console.</span></li>

<div><div class="section"><p>To delete an existing remote console, follow these steps:</p>

<ol><li><span>If your remote console is connected to a local console, disconnect
as follows: </span><ol type="a"><li><span>If the remote console has control, release control.</span></li>
<li><span>Select the configuration name.</span></li>
<li><span>From the <span class="uicontrol">Connection</span> menu, click <span class="uicontrol">Disconnect</span>.
The connection status shows <samp class="codeph">Disconnecting</samp>.</span></li>
<li><span>Wait until the status shows <samp class="codeph">Not connected to local console</samp> at
the remote console.</span></li>

<li><span>Select the configuration name.</span></li>
<li><span>From the <span class="uicontrol">Connection</span> menu, click <span class="uicontrol">Delete</span>.</span></li>
<li><span>Click <span class="uicontrol">Yes</span> to confirm the deletion.</span></li>

<div><div class="section"><p>You may need to delete the network object each time you delete
a configuration entry in Operations Console. Do the following to verify that
the network object does not exist:</p>
</div>
<ol><li class="stepexpand"><span>Open the <span class="uicontrol">Network and Dial-up Connections</span> folder
in the Control Panel. </span></li>
<li class="stepexpand"><span>If you deleted a local console configuration, look for an icon
that has the name of the iSeries system to which the local console used to
connect. </span> <p>Otherwise, if you deleted a remote console configuration,
look for an icon that has the computer name of the local console that you
used to connect to the iSeries system.</p>

<li class="stepexpand"><span>If the icon exists, you need to delete the network object as follows: </span><ol type="a"><li><span>Right-click the icon.</span></li>
<li><span>Select <span class="uicontrol">Delete</span>.</span></li>
