<h1 class="topictitle1">Meet Operations Console cable requirements</h1>
<div><p>You need to meet the following cable requirements for supported
servers, cables and card locations.</p>
<div class="section"><p>Depending on your configuration, you need to install a cable or
card on the server. To connect your local console directly attached to the
server you must use the correct cables. To connect a local console on a network
you need a LAN adapter. </p>
<div class="important"><span class="importanttitle">Important:</span> Supported cards and locations
are only for non-partitioned servers or primary partitions. Logical partitions
may support additional adapters, especially in migration towers, based on
the tower's capability.</div>

<div class="section"><p>This table lists the Operations Console cards and cables that
you need to have available for your setup.</p>

remote control panel functions each need a special cable.</li>
<li>If you are currently using electronic customer support (ECS), you must
move the electronic customer support cabling to another communications port
before trying to install Operations Console directly attached. <div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> You may
need to reassign your ECS resources.</div>

<li>The Console table only pertains to the primary or first partition. Any
supported adapter might be used in a logical partition. There are cases where
the Multi-function Input/Output Processor (MFIOP) may not support certain
Input/Output Adapter (IOA) types in a logical partition. When in doubt, contact
your service representative.</li>
