<div><p>These questions will help you plan which functions will be managed
through Application Administration's Local Settings. In addition, you will
determine what type of access users and groups will have to those functions.</p>
<div class="section"> <p>The first step in the planning process is to plan for Application
Administration's Local Settings. The following questions will help you gather
the information you need to begin to administer the Local Settings through
Application Administration:</p>

<ol><li class="stepexpand"><span>Which applications do you want to manage with Application Administration?</span> <div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> You can only use Application Administration to administer applications
that define administrable functions. For example, iSeries™ Navigator includes Basic Operations
and Configuration and Service as administrable functions.</div>

<li class="stepexpand"><span>What type of access do you want users to have to the administrable
functions of those applications?</span><ol type="a"><li class="substepexpand"><span>If you want all users to be allowed access to the function,
then use the <span class="uicontrol">Default Access</span> setting for the function.
Then, by default, all users will have access to the function.</span></li>
<li class="substepexpand"><span>If you want all users with all object system privilege to have
access to the function, use the <span class="uicontrol">All Object Access</span> setting
for that function.</span> <div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> This value allows all users with all object
system privilege to have access to this function even if they are explicitly
denied access to the function by using the <span class="uicontrol">Customized Access</span> setting.</div>

<li class="substepexpand"><span>Identify groups that require an access setting that differs
from the <span class="uicontrol">Default Access</span> setting. You must specify a <strong>Customized
Access</strong> setting for each of these groups.</span></li>
<li class="substepexpand"><span>Identify users who require an access setting that differs from
the default access or customized access for the groups to which they belong.
Then, you must specify a <span class="uicontrol">Customized Access</span> setting
for each of these users.</span></li>
<li class="substepexpand"><span>Identify users not in a group who require an access setting
that differs from the <span class="uicontrol">Default Access</span> setting. You must
specify a <span class="uicontrol">Customized Access</span> setting for each of these
