<div><p>Determine if you need to purchase new hardware or upgrade existing
hardware for your company. IBM<sup>®</sup> can assist you in placing the correct order that
meets your partition requirements.</p>
<p>Contact your IBM Marketing
Representative or Business Partner to enter the order for your new server.
You can enter the order by using the configurator. When placing the order
for a server with logical partitions, specify feature code 0140 for each partition.</p>
<p>To upgrade an existing server with logical partitions, detailed planning
must be performed prior to upgrading the server. It is highly recommended
that all of the logical partition configuration actions be performed by an
LPAR-trained services person. Refer to <a href="../rzamd/rzamdexpanupgradelpar.htm" target="_blank">Convert expansion units in a partitioned environment</a> for
more information on upgrading an existing server with logical partition.</p>
