<div><p>An e-mail router is an intermediate system that Simple Message
|
|
Transfer Protocol (SMTP) delivers mail to when it cannot locate the recipient's
|
|
exact IP address.</p>
|
|
<div class="p">Before you follow these steps to configure a router,
|
|
see the <a href="rzairrzairroute.htm#rzairrzairroute">Prerequisites for an e-mail router</a>.</div>
|
|
<div class="section"><p>The e-mail router routes the e-mail to the IP address or to another
|
|
router. Route your outgoing e-mail to an alternative system if your local
|
|
server fails to deliver the e-mail to the system. If you have a firewall,
|
|
you can use the firewall as your router.</p>
|
|
<p>To set the router, follow these
|
|
steps:</p>

expand <span class="menucascade"><span class="uicontrol">your iSeries Server</span> > <span class="uicontrol">Network</span> > <span class="uicontrol">Servers</span> > <span class="uicontrol">TCP/IP</span></span>.</span></li>

<li><span>Double-click <span class="uicontrol">SMTP</span>. The <span class="wintitle">SMTP Properties</span> dialog
|
|
appears.</span></li>

|
<li><span>Click the <span class="uicontrol">General</span> tab.</span></li>
|
|
<li><span>Enter the Mail router name.</span></li>
|
|

<ol><li>In iSeries Navigator,
|
|
expand <span class="menucascade"><span class="uicontrol">your iSeries Server</span> > <span class="uicontrol">Network</span> > <span class="uicontrol">Servers</span> > <span class="uicontrol">TCP/IP</span></span>.</li>

<li>Double-click <span class="uicontrol">SMTP</span>. The <span class="wintitle">SMTP Properties</span> dialog
|
|
appears.</li>

<li>Click the <span class="uicontrol">General</span> tab.</li>
|
|
<li>Enter the name of the firewall, for example, <samp class="codeph">FWAS400.company.com</samp> in
|
|
the Mail Router field.</li>

<li>Select <span class="uicontrol">Forward outgoing mail to router through firewall</span>.</li>
