<h1 class="topictitle1">Communication policy: Require Secure Sockets </h1>

<div><p>Use this policy to require that a user connect to the iSeries™ server
|
|
using the secure sockets layer (SSL).</p>
|
|
<p>To use this policy, SSL must be installed and configured on both the iSeries server
|
|
and the client PC. It is not possible to mandate that SSL be turned off. It
|
|
is always possible for a user to elect to use SSL, assuming that it is installed
|
|
and configured on both the iSeries server and the client PC.</p>
|
|
<p>If this policy mandates the use of SSL, any connection attempt that cannot
|
|
use SSL will fail. This means that if the user does not have SSL installed,
|
|
or if the iSeries system
|
|
is incapable of using SSL or does not have the SSL-capable versions of the
|
|
host servers started, no connections to iSeries servers can be made!</p>
