<h2 id="rzahynls-rf">National language support (NLS) considerations</h2>
|
|
<p>Be aware of the following NLS considerations:</p>
|
|
<ul>
|
|
<li>Data is transferred between LDAP servers and clients in UTF-8 format.
|
|
All ISO 10646 characters are allowed.</li>
|
|
<li>The Directory Server uses the UTF-16 mapping method to store data in the
|
|
database.</li>
|
|
<li>The server and the client do case insensitive string comparisons. The
|
|
uppercase algorithms will not be correct for all languages (locales).</li></ul><p class="indatacontent">For more information about UCS-2, see "<a href="../nls/rbagsglobalmain.htm">Globalization</a>" in the Planning topic.</p>
