<h2 id="rzahyasf-pi">Add and remove Directory Server suffixes</h2>
<p>Adding a suffix to the Directory Server allows the server to manage that
part of the directory tree.</p>

<div class="notebody">You cannot
add a suffix that is under another suffix already on the server. For example,
if <tt class="xph">o=ibm, c=us</tt> were a suffix on your server, you cannot
add <tt class="xph">ou=rochester, o=ibm, c=us</tt>.</div>
<p>To add a suffix to the directory server, take these steps:</p>
<ol type="1">
<li>In iSeries Navigator, expand <span class="bold">Network</span>.</li>
<li>Expand <span class="bold">Servers</span>.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">TCP/IP</span>.</li>
<li>Right-click <span class="bold">IBM Directory Server</span> and
select <span class="bold">Properties</span>.</li>
<li>Click the <span class="bold">Database/Suffixes</span> tab.</li>
<li>In the <span class="bold">New suffix</span> field, type
the name of the new suffix.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">Add</span>.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">OK</span>.</li></ol>

<div class="notetitle" id="wq169">Note:</div>
<div class="notebody">Adding a suffix points the server to a
section of the directory, but does not create any objects. If an object that
corresponds to the new suffix did not previously exist, you must create it
just as you would any other object.</div>
<p>To remove a suffix from the Directory Server, take these steps:</p>
<ol type="1">
<li>In iSeries Navigator, expand <span class="bold">Network</span>.</li>
<li>Expand <span class="bold">Servers</span>.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">TCP/IP</span>.</li>
<li>Right-click <span class="bold">IBM Directory Server</span> and
select <span class="bold">Properties</span>.</li>
<li>Click the <span class="bold">Database/Suffixes</span> tab.</li>
<li>Click the suffix that you want to remove to select it.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">Remove</span>.

<div class="notebody">You can choose to delete a suffix without deleting the
directory objects under it. This makes the data inaccessible from the directory
server. However, you can later regain access to the data by adding back the
