<h3 id="rzahqhotsparebetweeniscsi">Hot spare between iSCSI local host adapters</h3>
<p>The iSeries&trade; iSCSI local host adapter hardware provides hot spare capabilities
to enhance the reliability and recoverability of the Windows server environment.
If the iSCSI local host adapter that a Windows server is using fails, you
can quickly and easily switch the server to use another "hot spare" iSCSI
local host adapter. It also adds flexibility by enabling one "spare" iSCSI
local host adapter to be used to protect multiple production iSCSI local host
adapters.</p>
<a name="wq228"></a>
<div class="notetitle" id="wq228">Note:</div>
<div class="notebody">This iSCSI local host adapter hot spare capability complements
the hot spare capability that is provided for the integrated server hardware.
For more information, <a href="rzahqhotsparebetw.htm#rzahqhotsparebetw">Hot spare between server hardware</a>.</div>
<p>To hot spare iSCSI local host adapter hardware using iSeries navigator,
do the following steps:</p>
<ol type="1">
<li>Expand<span class="bold"> Integrated Server Administration</span>.</li>
<li>Expand <span class="bold">iSCSI Connections</span>.</li>
<li>Select <span class="bold">Local Host Adapters</span>.</li>
<li>If the network server host adapter (NWSH) for which you want to swap hardware
is not already stopped:
<ul>
<li>Right-click the NWSH and select <span class="bold">Stop</span>.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">Stop</span> on the confirmation panel.</li>
<li>If active servers are currently using the NWSH, a warning message is shown.
Click <span class="bold">Continue</span>.</li></ul></li>
<li>To change the NWSH to point to the hot spare iSCSI local host adapter:
<ul>
<li>Right-click the NWSH and select <span class="bold">Properties</span>.</li>
<li>Select the <span class="bold">General</span> tab and select a new value for
the <span class="bold">Hardware resource</span> prompt.</li>
<li>Click <span class="bold">OK</span>.</li></ul></li>
<li>To start the NWSH, right-click the NWSH and select <span class="bold">Start</span>.</li></ol>
<p>You can also use the Vary Configuration (VRYCFG) to vary off the NWSH.
Then use the Change Device Desccription (NWSH) (CHGDEVNWSH) CL command to
change the value for the Resource Name (RSRCNAME) parameter to specify the
new hardware resource name.</p><img src="deltaend.gif" alt="End of change" /><img src="deltaend.gif" alt="End of change" />
