<h5 id="rzahqdiscoverybyhostname">Discovery by host name</h5>
|
|
<p>This method of discovery uses unicast addressing. To configure discovery
|
|
by host name, perform the following steps.</p>
|
|
<ol type="1">
|
|
<li>On the hosted system, configure the host name in the service processor.
|
|
If possible, do this step before connecting the service processor to the
|
|
LAN.
|
|
<ol type="a">
|
|
<li>You must use the web interface for this step. Use the current IP address
|
|
to connect to the RSA II web interface. For details on connecting and using
|
|
a web browser, see <a href="rzahqmmrsaiiweb.htm#rzahqmmrsaiiweb">Use the Management Module or RSA II web interface</a>.</li>
|
|
<li>Use your browser to change the host name to one that is suitable for your
|
|
network.</li>
|
|
<li><span class="bold">Optional:</span> You can also configure a static IP address
|
|
that is suitable for your network.</li></ol></li>
|
|
<li>On your iSeries™ server, configure the service processor:
|
|
<ol type="a">
|
|
<li>Ensure that the <span class="bold">Use service processor connection to determine
|
|
remote system enclosure identity</span> option is checked.</li>
|
|
<li>Select the <span class="bold">Host name</span> option and specify the service
|
|
processor host name.</li>
|
|
<li><span class="bold">Optional:</span> Specify the stand-alone server's
|
|
serial number or a IBM® BladeCenter™ chassis serial number. An error
|
|
will occur if the serial number of the service processor discovered by host
|
|
name is different that the configured serial number.</li></ol>See <a href="rzahqchangespprops.htm#rzahqchangespprops">Change service processor configuration properties</a>.</li>

<li>Using the procedure described in <a href="rzahqchangeremotesysconfig.htm#rzahqchangeremotesysconfig">Change remote system configuration properties</a>,
|
|
ensure that the remote system identity is set correctly:
|
|
<ul>
|
|
<li>For a stand-alone server, select the <span class="bold">Use enclosure identity
|
|
from the service processor configuration</span> option.</li>
|
|
<li>For an IBM BladeCenter blade, select the <span class="bold">Use the
|
|
following values</span> option and specify the blade serial number.</li></ul></li></ol>
|
|
<p>Advantages: </p>
|
|
<ul>
|
|
<li>If a DNS server is available, a specific IP address need not be maintained
|
|
in the i5/OS™ remote system configuration.</li></ul>
|
|
<p>Disadvantages: </p>
|
|
<ul>
|
|
<li>The host name must be configured into the service processor via the service
|
|
processor's web interface.</li>
|
|
