<div class="section"><p>The <a href="javadoc/com/ibm/as400/access/Job.html">Job class</a> (in the access package) allows a Java™ program
to retrieve and change server job information. </p>
<div class="note"><span class="notetitle">Note:</span> IBM® Toolbox for Java also
provides <a href="resources.htm#resources">resource classes</a> that
present a generic framework and consistent programming interface for working
with various objects and lists on your iSeries™ server. After reading about the
classes in the <a href="javadoc/com/ibm/as400/access/package-summary.html#NAVBAR_TOP">access package</a> and the <a href="javadoc/com/ibm/as400/resource/package-summary.html#NAVBAR_TOP">resource package</a>, you can choose the object that works
best for your application. The resource classes for working with jobs are <a href="javadoc/com/ibm/as400/resource/RJob.html#NAVBAR_TOP"> RJob</a>, <a href="javadoc/com/ibm/as400/resource/RJobList.html#NAVBAR_TOP"> RJobList</a>, and <a href="javadoc/com/ibm/as400/resource/RJobLog.html#NAVBAR_TOP"> RJobLog</a>.</div>
<p>The following type of job information
can be retrieved and changed with the Job class:</p>
<ul><li><a href="javadoc/com/ibm/as400/access/Job.html#GETQUEUE()">Job queues</a></li>
<li><a href="javadoc/com/ibm/as400/access/Job.html#GETOUTPUTQUEUE()">Output queues</a></li>
<li><a href="javadoc/com/ibm/as400/access/Job.html#GETLOGGINGCLPROGRAMS()"> Message logging</a></li>
<li><a href="javadoc/com/ibm/as400/access/Job.html#GETPRINTERDEVICENAME()"> Printer device</a></li>
<li><a href="javadoc/com/ibm/as400/access/Job.html#GETCOUNTRYID()"> Country or region identifier</a></li>
<li><a href="javadoc/com/ibm/as400/access/Job.html#GETDATEFORMAT()">Date format</a></li>
</ul>
<p>The job class also allows the ability to change a single value at
a time, or cache several changes using the <a href="javadoc/com/ibm/as400/access/Job.html#SETCACHECHANGES(BOOLEAN)"> setCacheChanges(true)</a> method and committing the changes
using the <a href="javadoc/com/ibm/as400/access/Job.html#COMMITCHANGES()"> commitChanges()</a> method. If caching is not turned on,
you do not need to do a commit.</p>
</div>
<div class="section"><h4 class="sectiontitle">Example</h4><p>For a code example, see the Javadoc reference
documentation for the Job class. The example shows how to set and get values
to and from the cache in order to set the run priority with the setRunPriority()
method and set the date format with the setDateFormat() method:</p>
